How MileGuard tracks your miles
MileGuard is an iPhone app that tracks the miles on your leased car so a mileage overage bill is never a surprise. It is currently available on the US App Store.

How does MileGuard know when I am driving?
It uses your phone's motion and location to detect when you are driving and estimate the distance. Automatic drive detection is something you enable, and you can turn it off at any time.
Does MileGuard track my car or my phone?
It follows this iPhone, not your VIN.
Why was one of my drives not counted?
A rental, a rideshare, or a drive where you were the passenger is not counted unless you say so. Automatic drive detection also has to be turned on for a drive to be picked up at all. If a drive is missing, you can add it yourself, or correct the total with an odometer reading.
What if I was a passenger, or in a rental or rideshare?
That is expected. MileGuard follows this iPhone, not your VIN, so a passenger, rental, or rideshare drive is not counted unless you say so. If you want it included, you can add it yourself as a manual drive.
Can I add a drive or an odometer reading myself?
Yes. Log an odometer reading or add a drive in seconds.
Why does MileGuard's number differ from my dash odometer?
The tracked figure is an estimate of distance driven; your odometer stays the source of truth. Logging a reading brings the two back in line.
How often should I log my odometer?
MileGuard reminds you to read it so the estimate stays honest.
